Is my company required to submit audited annual accounts?
     No. The only financial information your company needs to submit is the ratios requested on the Financial Questionnaire, and the range within which your company's turnover falls.
 

 


Will KPMG visit my company to verify the data submitted on the Financial Questionnaire?
      No. However if your company is shortlisted for possible inclusion in the Top 100 List, then KPMG reserves the right to request your company to obtain a certificate in the following format, signed by your company's auditors:-

"We, the auditors of XYZ Company, confirm that the ratios submitted by XYZ company on the Top 100 Mid Sized companies Survey Financial Questionnaire, a copy of which is attached hereto, have been computed in line with the formulae stipulated on the questionnaire, and using figures from the audited accounts for the financial years ended (month) YYYY, (month), YYYY and (month) YYYY."

What is the deadline for submission of the questionnaires?
     The deadline is July 15

 


What information does KPMG receive and what information does Business Daily receive?
     All completed financial questionnaires will be reviewed and analyzed by KPMG. The Research firm will provide assistance in analyzing the data submitted on the general questionnaires. The Research firm will also assist in collecting the financial questionnaires and in guiding survey participants in completing the questionnaires.

The Research Firm will then prepare a summary of the findings of the Survey based on the general questionnaire. No questionnaires will be reviewed and analyzed by Nation Media Group. Its journalists may however seek to interview the Top 100 companies for the purpose of preparing articles for the Special Supplement. Such interviews will be separate from the Survey.
What information will be made available to industry associations?
     KPMG will avail one copy each of the Survey report prepared by the Research Firm to all industry associations that support the Survey.

 


What support should an industry association give in order to get a copy of the report?
     
  • Advertise the Survey in the industry journal, industry website and on emails to members.
  • Endorse the survey and encourage members to take part.
Do I need to pay any fee to participate?
     No. Participation is completely free.

 


Will my company be able to exhibit its products at the exhibition?
     No. The exhibition booths at the Kenya Top 100 conference are reserved for companies that provide services to SMEs and which partner to serve the Top 100 companies.

 


If my company makes it to the Top 100 list, what marketing benefits derive from this award?
     Any company that makes it to the Top 100 list can make reference to the award in its marketing /promotional material. It can also use the Kenya Top 100 club logo in its advertising material.

 


What data will be published?
     A special supplement will be published in the Business Daily in September. The information that will be published in the supplement will be as follows:
  • All Winners of Special Awards
  • The Top 100 list
  • Brief profiles of the Top 100
  • In depth interviews of the Top 10 and Winners of Special Awards
    • Key trends and insights emerging from the Survey including but not limited to the following:
    • Industry spread of survey respondents and of the Top 100;
    • Job creation trends for all survey respondents
    • Financial parameter ranges (ie highest, lowest) and explanatory statistics such as median and for the various industries represented by the Survey respondents. Comparisons of average revenue growth rate, ROE, and other parameters from industry to industry may also be published.
